I never really thought about it but the game doesn't really specify whether cover 2 is a man or zone scheme in the game. The help file mentions that LBs play underneath zone coverage in a cover 3, but don't really specify about the coverage outside of the 2 deep zones when talking about cover 2. I'm assuming its a cover 2 man. Looking at the tampa 2 it's stated that the MLB is in deep zone, and implies the other LBs are in some kind of short zone, but what about the CBs?
Other things I've thought of, assuming no blitz can a lb still be in press coverage? Defenses automatically sub into nickel and dime packages to account for 3 or 4 wr situations. Even if you run 2 press which puts a LB in man on a TE you don't typically see anyone actually playing press coverage on a TE in actual football. The LB or S covering them always gives them some space unless they are flexed out and if anything you try and have your edge rusher chip him for a second to hold up his route. If the RB is in the backfield clearly the LB can't press him.
So if you have a LB with good mcv and poor press is it really going to hurt you in press coverage? If I had a better answer to these questions I might actually be able to start coming up with a hierarchy for importance of certain coverage bars by position. For example if you know the LB is technically in man in cover 2 press then you know you can discount the press bar drastically at those positions. If cover 2 is definitely man then you can discount zcv a fair bit in your CBs unless you happen to play a lot of cover 3.
