I only skimmed through some of these ideas, so pardon any duplicates. I really like Nick's idea of rookie/college player evaluation during the season.
1. Coach Hiring - on everyone's list. Why not allow firing a coach during the season?
2. Improve the Financial Model - Lots of things could be included. You have a budget, spend more money on player development, scouting, PR to improve attendance, stadium upgrades, etc.
3. Get rid of the silliness of not being able to improve your turf easily.
4. Defensive GP - More control over down and distance, improve control of blitzing (blitz personnel groups??). Perhaps allow the GM to specify options (more blitz, play zone, etc.), then REX can create a template defensive GP. Possibly tie the REX template idea into the film room data so that a unique GP can be created for the upcoming opponent. This would help level the playing field for folks that don't have time to GP.
5. I'm really dreaming now, an intelligent AI which recognizes offensive tendencies DURING the game. Eliminate the familiars but put the defense in a better position/formation to stop a play.
6. Bring back depth charts.

DDPF does have a college game that feeds into the Pro game Do stats carry over also?
Yes, you straight up export the draftclass from the college game and import it in DDSPF.
They have free demos over there you can try out.

Eliminate the 46 player limit for preseason games. Let me have 53 or 60 active, and, let me be able to indicate to the AI how liberally I want substitutions made down the depth chart during the course of the game.

I get why it's done this way, but this is a wish list, right? Eliminate the 46 player limit for preseason games. Let me have 53 or 60 active, and, let me be able to indicate to the AI how liberally I want substitutions made down the depth chart during the course of the game. Right. FOF8 went backwards with pre season. Give us some control back.

I'd love to fire coaches in season and get some type of bonus for shaking this up. IMO, the depth charts have got to return. One of the biggest disappointments in FOF8 for me along with the asinine no reworking deals after the season starts (thanks Ben) which has totally killed trading in MP leagues.

A very overlooked feature considering many leagues probably don't turn off injuries for preseason. How are you supposed to limit your good players snaps when you can only have a roster of 60 guys and only 46 of them are active? You're forced to play important players in meaningless snaps that could get them seriously injured.

Compensatory picks. After thinking a lot about it I've concluded that there should only be one pick regardless the number of guys you lost in FA. The obvious tradeoff is if you lose a ton then you would get a higher draft pick, while everyone else gets an extra 7th or whatever.

If the goal is to simulate real life NFL, why can't Jim get the rosters in preseason correct? Why is there no practice squad?

Practice squads and compensatory picks would be great additions to the game.
Gameplanning and coach hiring needs a drastic overhaul from the FOF8 models and bring back contract negotiations in season.

Not in any order of preference.
1. Practice Squad. 2. Fix pre-season, hate not having any control of how much or how little players play. 3. Gameplan on Defense needs a complete overhaul. 4. Gameplan on Offense - Make it easier so it is not as time consuming. Would love to have the ability to put in the key plays I want to see in key situations and then be able to REX the rest of the gameplan would be one idea. 5. Keep track of stats as to how each play is performing in your gameplan.

This one is certainly small compared to the rest suggested here, but would add to the realism, and I would think, would be pretty easy to implement:
Have some of a team's timeouts occur throughout play in each quarter (to avoid a delay of game, unsuccessful red flag challenge, etc.), rather than every team have all of their's saved up for the last 3 minutes of each half in every game.

Lifetime contract, lol. Have you been setting him at 100? I've tried 100 and 99 because someone mentioned they thought 99 works better. Apparently the game just doesn't think that there's anyone better. I do 0 and 100, but who know's, maybe it's game to game or the latter of what you're saying.

I need a few things...
1. Situational downs, 1st and 10 on your own 12 is so different to first and 10 on their 22. 2. More control on formations, like putting a TE out at FL. And for different formations not to become buggy, would love to be a predominantly 014 005 kind of team, playing like the real life Chiefs, without the game punishing you for it. 3. Control on QB reads. What is the point of Primary and secondary, would like to be able to say that's 1,2,3 on your progression. But guess what, its actually a play action read, where you may even hand it off. 4. Seeing a draft class long before the draft, and giving those players yearly stats. Could have certain scouting points per week that you could use on guys to narrow their bars every time you scout. (So you see a ridiculously wide bar before any scouting points being spent)
Not much then.

Alot of people are happy with the plays being created, I'd be happy with just the Run/Shortpass/Longpass options again. Creating all the plays is a time drain IMO
