I want to open up a discussion on what constitutes fair play. Everybody has different levels of where they draw the line. For example, some people who play the game will say something along the lines of "If it isn't against the rules of the league, then anything goes". Others may have a different view such as "It may not be against the league rules but this type of thing isn't good for the league in the long run". Some people purposefully play over the cap knowing that the only punishment they may get is a third round pick taken away. But what's the loss of a third round pick when you can hoard great players on massive contracts? I would like to show an example of something that I believe goes against the spirit of the game and fair play in general; The CFL, run by Firefly is a money league. Real cash in your pocket if you are successful and you don't have to pay a dime to enter. The league has a benefactor of sorts. Unfortunately, the league, in my eyes, has really hit rock bottom. Certain GM's are 'gaming the system'. Sure, it's not against the rules and you are free to do the same. But in the interests of fair play, is this acceptable? Let's take Alonzo Neri. He's a 57 rated LB by my scout, 8th Year. He was signed to this contract in Late Free Agency 3 stage. It's not against the rules. But does it constitute fair play? I think not. Here's another guy. Neil Keith. 62 rated DE by my scout, 7th year. Signed in the same stage, by the same team as Neri. But, hey, it's not against the rules.....

No. Firefly has already told people to stop back loading, so pretty clear cut for me. Even if there were no rules it breaks the don't be a douche rule of not playing in a sporting manner. Gaming the system. It isn't clever.

He would never let this shit fly in any of his leagues. This is my problem. Someone else does or says something outside the box it is wrong. He does he thinks he is smart. I trust Firefly to the moon and back but he needs to stand up and be strong. He was taken for a mug once before by Ben, I hope he stands up to him now or I can see problems ahead for that league.

Except Ben does allow this: gml.fof-belco.com/playercard.php?playerid=55581gml.fof-belco.com/playercard.php?playerid=51535Fwiw, I think people who do contracts like this are gaming the system in a bad way. Is a one year rental really worth it? You've now raised salary renegs for your other players, who think they're hawt shit rated 51 and want $30 mil+ a year. No thanks.

Totally gaming the system and a shady way to play IMO. If he's doing that in the open, what the hell is he doing behind the scenes?

He knows full well that on season roll over the franchise figures are set. The fact that he cuts his player won't bring the tag figure back down again, unless something has changed in game.
We had a big bust up a few years back when a GM went to franchise his QB and was hit with an artificial figure because of Ben's unrealistic deals.
At some point you have to hold the commissioner responsible. To let him play by his own rules is weak. People are intimidated by his standing it seems. This isn't the first time. He played $100M over cap last season while the rest of league played under the cap.
He is just so desperate to win he embarrasses himself and spoils the game for others. Funny thing is despite all this he comes up short year after year.

Who offered these contracts? Let me guess do his initials start with B.L.? No, other people. There are numerous people who are now offering these shit contracts that beat out actual bids. It's stupid.

It's stupid. Not in this league, it was just B.L. We had already been told by the commish not to backload. Just to put it in to context.
