No. Firefly has already told people to stop back loading, so pretty clear cut for me. Even if there were no rules it breaks the don't be a douche rule of not playing in a sporting manner. Gaming the system. It isn't clever. I've run few leagues before and currently running the TFL. We don't have a specific rule prohibiting this, but I'd cut the player and warn the GM. If it occurred again, the GM would be cut.

I thought Jim had fixed the backload issue of contracts, but it's happening everywhere. No player would ever take a backloaded contract that has only 10k in bonus per year. Clearly it's a rule that needs to be placed, as contracts like that shouldn't beat out any legitimate offer made to said player.

There will always be guys looking to game the system. They must spend countless hours figuring it out. Quite sad really.
But a lot of this can be wiped out by strong commissioners who won't tolerate this. As much as there are guys out there who want to game the system, the commissioners have a responsibility to their league and the other GMs to nip this type of behaviour in the bud.

Firefly doesn't have the balls to stand up to Ben, apparently. This is the third issue that Ben has caused in that league that I know about, and I don't even play in the league, so there may be more. He could really resolve the issue of Ben playing the game like a douchebag by just removing him from the league, but again, Firefly doesn't have the balls to do anything like that.

Regardless of who it is and what their level of influence over the FOF community.

I quit the league when Ben did the $100m over the cap shit, i don't get why GMs stay and put up with this bullshit to be honest. But while i did play there i found FF to be a really good guy.

I stayed in the league for the same reason I didn't burn my Nike's because Kaep got a Nike commercial deal. I'm not gonna get seething mad and throw a temper tantrum over it.
And for everyone pissed that he exploited that and you are concerned that it's going to fuck up the franchise number for that position.
1) Why are you mad at that and give me an example why. Only reason I ask is, the franchise number never matters to me since any time I franchise someone, it's to resign a player to an extension that I wasn't able to extend the previous year. Perhaps I'm the minority on this point, but I've never franchised a guy with the intent on keeping that cap hit all season. If YOU do, why? I can think of very rare situations, but I question how intelligent that is anyway.
2) You couldn't have been mad that he won a player you were going for, because Ben was the ONLY person to offer on the player. Not a single rejected offer. Mad you couldn't sign him to a 1 year deal in preseason to franchise and resign the next offseason?
3) Or are you mad because it was Ben E Lou that did it?
How did it/will it affect you besides making you angry?

You are a bright guy. You don't need anyone to answer those questions surely? I think you are just playing devils advocate.

I was talking about the $100m over the cap, why did i quit because it was pure and utter b-llshit. I'm not playing in a league where one guy gets 50%-100% more cap than me because the game has an exploit. In this case the great Ben who wins a lot in his leagues and knows everything about this game screwed up his team up soooooooooo badly he had to play not $5m or $10m over the cap but $100m over the cap. Seriously a cave man with an abacus could have got closer to the cap than he did. Let's say he won the bowl like this, wow what an achievement hey, he had 50-100% more money than everyone else, p-ssed off the whole league and put the commish under terrible pressure that he almost quit and others questioned him (and FF does not deserve that he's a good guy). Bravo well done Ben you're such a great guy.

I used to play in the NAFL and saw Ben do this there. Can't believe guys would play like this in a fake football sim. Pathetic if you ask me.
Ps. Firefly is a great guy. Top fella

FF is a top notch person and commissioner. He's been put in some really tough situations over someone essentially gaming the system and then pointing out that it's okay to do because there is not an explicit rule in place. That's my main beef to be honest, but as I said in CyFL, it's obvious that everyone has there own definition of integrity.
Also, great points Nemesis for sure.

I might be the worst FOF commissioner in history if I ever held top spot. But for me this would of been dealt with around 60 seconds. First time up the players gets cut and he is politely asked not to be a douche bag. Second time up, if he can't provide a reasonable excuse such as opps sorry I forgot, he gets kicked out the league. For me it is easy and straight forward.
